Who I work with

You look fine on the outside.
Inside is a different story.

I work with high-achieving adults who are used to pushing through — but something has shifted. The exhaustion is deeper, the anxiety louder, the path forward less clear.

01

Burnout & Anxiety

You're the one everyone relies on — at work, at home, everywhere. But lately the exhaustion is bone-deep, the worry won't quiet, and you can't remember what "okay" feels like. You need more than a vacation. You need to rebuild.

02

Infertility & Pregnancy Loss

The emotional toll of infertility is profound and often invisible. Whether you're in the middle of treatment, grieving a loss, or navigating what comes next — I provide a safe, clinically informed space to process all of it.

03

Chronic Illness & Medical Trauma

Living with a chronic condition reshapes your sense of self, your relationships, and your future. I help you navigate the grief, identity shifts, and daily emotional weight that come with illness — without having to explain it from the beginning every time.

04

Life Transitions

Divorce, career pivots, loss, major relationship changes — transitions surface anxiety, identity questions, and grief you didn't expect. I help you find your footing, reconnect with what matters, and move forward with clarity.

What clients say

Real people.
Real change.

Julie helped me finally understand what was driving my burnout — not just the symptoms, but the patterns underneath. For the first time in years I feel like I have tools that actually work for my life.

Specialties & approach

Is this you?
You're in the right place.

If any of these sound familiar, we should talk:

You're exhausted but can't slow down — stopping feels scarier than pushing through
You're navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, or the emotional toll of treatment
You're managing a chronic illness and struggling with who you are now
You look successful on the outside but feel like you're barely holding it together
You're going through a major life change and don't know who you are on the other side
You've tried therapy before but it felt too slow, too passive, or not practical enough
You set boundaries in theory but struggle to hold them in real life
You're dealing with relationship conflict, divorce, or family stress that's taking a toll
You're a caregiver who has forgotten to take care of yourself
You want a therapist who will be direct, practical, and actually help you move forward

My approach

My style is warm, direct, and practical. I don't believe in passive listening alone — I work collaboratively with you to understand patterns, build real coping strategies, and make meaningful, sustainable changes.

In our first sessions, we'll create space for you to exhale. Then we get to work — building practical tools to help you feel more balanced, supported, and in control of your life again.

I bring 28 years of clinical experience across government, integrated health systems, and private practice. I've seen a lot, and I bring all of it to every session.

28 years of experience

A therapist with experience, warmth, and a practical lens.

I'm Julie Isaacs, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 28 years of experience helping adults navigate some of life's most challenging moments.

I received my MSW from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998 and have worked across government child welfare, integrated health systems, and private practice. That breadth of experience means I bring a clinical depth and real-world perspective most therapists simply don't have.

My work centers on high-performing people navigating burnout, anxiety, infertility, and major life transitions. My approach is supportive, direct, and practical — helping you process what you're going through while building tools to manage stress, set boundaries, and feel more grounded and in control.

I offer virtual therapy on weekdays across Virginia, Maryland, and Florida.

Common questions

What to expect.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I'll ask about what's brought you to therapy, your history, and what you're hoping to change. There's no pressure — it's a conversation, not an intake form. By the end, we'll have a sense of whether we're a good fit and what we'd work on together.

How long will I need therapy?

That depends entirely on you and what you're working on. Some clients come for a focused 8–12 sessions around a specific issue. Others work with me for longer as they navigate bigger life changes. We'll check in regularly on what's working and adjust as you progress — there's no arbitrary end date.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person?

Yes — research consistently shows virtual therapy is as effective as in-person for most concerns. Many clients actually find it easier to open up from the comfort of their own space. All sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.

Do you take insurance?

I'm in-network with several major insurers including Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, CareFirst, Cigna, Kaiser (VA & MD), Optum, Oscar, and UnitedHealthcare. I also provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, and accept private pay, HSA, and FSA. Not sure about your plan? Call or email and I'll help you figure it out.

What's the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy focuses on healing, processing past experiences, and mental health treatment — and may involve a diagnosis. Coaching is future-focused, goal-oriented, and action-based, with no clinical diagnosis. Many high-performers find coaching more aligned with what they're looking for. I offer both, and we can talk through which fits better for you.

How do I get started?

The easiest way is to email me or call (757) 656-9170. I respond to all inquiries within one business day. We'll schedule an initial session and go from there — no paperwork required before we meet.

Executive coaching

Built for leaders who
can't afford to stay stuck.

You've built a career on performance. You're decisive, capable, and used to solving hard problems — but the problem right now might be you. The burnout, the boundary issues, the voice that says you should be further along by now.

Executive coaching is for high-achieving professionals who want focused, results-oriented support without the clinical framework of therapy. We work on what's happening now — your leadership, your communication, your blind spots — and build a clear path forward.

With 28 years working with high-performers and a clinical background that goes deeper than most coaches, I bring both the strategic and the psychological to every engagement.
